God inspired the author of Hebrews to write, “But without faith it is impossible to please him[God]:” How often do we fail in pleasing God by our lack of faith? Many times we say that we are “concerned” about a situation, or we share a prayer request in a fearful or complaining spirit. It is time that Christians claim the victory that God has given them. We must believe God when He said, “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We do not need to fret and worry or wring our hands about any situation. We must believe that God is bigger than our situations and circumstances.
Philippians 4:6 commands, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” That word careful has the meaning of being anxious or troubled with cares. God commands us not to be anxious about anything, but to pray instead. So when it seems that life is getting hard and your situations are becoming unbearable, pray. Ask God to help you see Him working in the situation. Ask Him to have His perfect will. Come before Him in a spirit of thanksgiving for what He has already done in your life as you have faith that He will work His perfect will.
What will you get as a result? Peace. The scripture continues with: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” When we trust God to handle all our situations, we will have peace in spite of whatever is happening in our lives. I challenge you, whatever is on your heart, go to Christ and cast your cares upon Him. You will never have peace, until you do.
“O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:”
