Casting all your cares upon Him. . .

Do you invite God to intervene when the problems in your life are small? Many times we think of God as great, powerful, and so far above us. That is true, God is all of those things, but as mentioned in my last post, God is interested in the smallest details of our lives. He longs for us to depend on Him in every situation.

1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him for He careth for you.” The God of heaven and earth wants us to cast all our cares upon Him. All of them. I was talking to a friend last night and he told me how some of his chickens had gotten out of their chicken coop. He and his wife were pretty upset that they had lost their chickens. As they were driving home from church, however they decided to pray. When they got home, the chickens had returned. It’s not the everyday prayer of a christian that his chickens would come back, but God answers prayers prayed in faith. I could tell you countless stories of God answering prayer in small matters, in my life and in the lives of others. He answers, even in the little things.

So if you think you will be late for work, Pray. If you are worried that you won’t get a parking space, pray. If you have lost something, even something small, pray. It may seem weird at first, but try it. God is real, and He cares for you. As you see Him work in your life in the little things, your faith will increase. After a while, you will find that your first reaction to any dilemma will be prayer, a reaction God longs to see in his children.

If you have had God answer one of your prayers recently, for something big or small, feel free to leave a comment about it. I’d love to hear how God has worked in your life.

  1. I agree that God wants to be involved in the big and little issues in our lives. It is like when our spouse or friend shares with us what is going on in their life, even if it isn’t a big thing, we feel closer to them by them opening up to us. It is the same with our relationship with the Lord. He already knows what all of our needs are but He wants us to share it with Him.
