Does it ever feel like no one understands. Perhaps you have been in a situation when you are going through a hard time and it seemed that no one cared. You walked around with a burden on your heart, yearning for a chance to talk and unload, yet those around you were too busy to notice.
Many times we have a wrong perspective on life. We live in a world focused on self. Living in this sin cursed world, we have a mentality that our needs must be met, that we are first priority.
A few days ago, I had this very mentality. I was wallowing in self-pity when the Lord brought this verse to remembrance. "For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." Mark 10:45 The Lord showed me that we are not called to be loved and appreciated, but to love and appreciate others.
Just like Christ, we are called to minister to others. Our duty is to build up our brothers and sisters in the faith. Just like Jesus we are to give our lives, not to save the world from sin, but give our lives in service. We should lay down our life daily and minister to our fellow Christians.
So I would like to challenge you, ask God to teach you to minister to others. God should be our source of strength in tough times. Let us Look for opportunities to build others in the faith. We have an calling to encourage, exhort, and edify those around us. Let us take up the challenge, and do the work of the great physician. As we focus on others, our problems will seem less important. As we ask God for the strength to minister to others, He will minister to us. Let us seek to minister, as He did.
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. – John 13:15
