Have you ever messed up big time? You ever do something wrong, and just know that punishment is coming? As humans, we will always mess up. Our mess ups are always deserving of punishment, but one thing I have learned recently is that God is more than willing to show us mercy.
In Lamentations 3:22-23, we learn that God’s mercies are new every morning. God says in His Word – over forty times – that His "mercy endureth forever." What a promise! God said that he will always be willing to withhold judgment. I’m not saying that God will never punish us, but He is always willing to keep us from some degree of punishment. Psalms 103:4 says, "For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust." God knows that we are fallible, and He is willing to show mercy on us. What a blessing!
I would like to remind you, God is merciful. If you have sinned recently, realize your fault and come before God. When you ask for forgiveness, don’t hesitate to ask for mercy. God is willing to extend mercy toward you. Don’t be held back by a feeling of unworthiness: if you were worthy, it wouldn’t be mercy! God is merciful and longsuffering and wants to bless you. You may still have to suffer some consequences, but God’s punishment will never be equal to the punishment you should have received.
"He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities." – Psalm 103:10
