Have you ever forgotten something? Like the gift for the birthday party, or the fact that you were supposed to pick someone up from somewhere. It is human nature to forget things. We get busy and things no longer are in the forefront of our minds. There is one, however, that we should not forget. We should not forget God.
In the time of the prophet Jeremiah, Israel was sinning greatly. God said in Jeremiah 2:32, "Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number." Think about that. Have you ever heard of a bride who forgot to bring or wear her wedding dress? Most women clearly have in mind what they will wear that day. For weeks they think about it. When they wake up, it is one of the first things on their mind. We are the bride of Christ. He will clothe us in righteousness when we go to heaven, shouldn’t we remember to clothe ourselves in His righteousness while we are on earth?
I would like to encourage you to remember God all throughout the day and maybe even in the night. God died for us, he saved us, he wants a relationship with us for eternity. Life is so much better when we live remembering that God is with us throughout our lives. Let us not be like Israel in the days of Jeremiah, let us be like the Psalmist who rejoiced at the thought of God, even in the night.
"My mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: when I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches." Psalm 63:6
