In today’s politically charged and emotionally driven climate people are constantly trying to address society’s problems they see. World corruption in governments. Sexism by men. Sexism by women. Systematic Racism against minorities. Systematic Racism against majorities. It seems every time humanity is at its worst there’s someone with a camera shouting out to the world that there was a problem and it needs to be fixed.
If we allow ourselves to be inundated by all the problems in the world we can become overwhelmed. We can find ourselves wanting to fix the hatred of people, fix the way society is, fix . . . “The almighty system”
These thoughts, although well meaning, are not Christlike. Christ wasn’t concerned with the hatred of unbelievers. He wasn’t interested in making society fair. He wasn’t looking to destroy prejudices among all of society. He was interested in changing people. And when people change, the world changes. It’s as simple as that.
As the philosopher Solzhenitsyn said, explained the reason for societies tragedies, “Men have forgotten God.”
Micah 6:8 says, “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
I challenge you to free yourself from the multitude of problems and faults that plague society. Rest in the peace of God, and focus on what God requires of you.
Walk humbly with God.
That’s it! It’s just that simple! Remember, God doesn’t require us to change the world. Just change ourselves. He wants us to live in righteousness and leave the rest to him.
